The fabric is first fixed directly to the wall and painted linearly, with the visible brushstrokes and the topographical unevenness of the wall being inscribed into the painting. In the subsequent transfer to the stretcher frame and the treatment with transparent varnish, the stretching process and surface treatment remain visible as manifest traces. The work thus reflects the conditions of its creation and negotiates painting as a processual, materially bound practice. /Der Stoff wird zunächst direkt an der Wand befestigt und linear bemalt, wobei die sichtbaren Pinselstriche und die topografischen Unebenheiten der Wand in das Gemälde eingeschrieben werden. Bei der anschließenden Übertragung auf den Keilrahmen und der Behandlung mit transparentem Lack bleiben der Spannvorgang und die Oberflächenbehandlung als manifeste Spuren sichtbar. Das Werk reflektiert somit die Bedingungen seiner Entstehung und verhandelt Malerei als prozessuale, materiell gebundene Praxis.

I work with cotton fabrics that are installed in the space according to the situation and painted on site. The fabric acts as an active, space-defining element and interacts with architecture, light, and movement. Traces of the process, such as folds, imprints, and gestures, remain visible and refer to the temporal dimension. The image is not understood as a finished object, but as a processual structure in which material, space, and time are intertwined. / Ich arbeite mit Baumwollstoffen, die je nach Situation im Raum installiert und vor Ort bemalt werden. Der Stoff fungiert als aktives, raumdefinierendes Element und interagiert mit Architektur, Licht und Bewegung. Spuren des Entstehungsprozesses wie Falten, Abdrücke und Gesten bleiben sichtbar und verweisen auf die zeitliche Dimension. Das Bild wird nicht als fertiges Objekt verstanden, sondern als prozessuale Struktur, in der Material, Raum und Zeit miteinander verwoben sind

Endres x Brutal / Brutal x Endres

Painting transitions into drawing, the brushstroke detaches itself from the picture plane and becomes a line. This line is transferred onto the body. In tattooing, drawing takes place as a performative act: temporary, irreversible, bound to the present. Image, action, and trace coincide. / Die Malerei geht in die Zeichnung über, der Pinselstrich löst sich von der Bildfläche und wird zur Linie. Diese Linie wird auf den Körper übertragen. Beim Tätowieren findet das Zeichnen als performativer Akt statt: vorübergehend, irreversibel, an die Gegenwart gebunden. Bild, Handlung und Spur fallen zusammen.
